Sitting Addiction of Philosophers of This Generation and ART
    #3641558 - 01/18/05 12:41 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Someone has in their quote what is listed at the end of this post. I think it is an exceptional text. This is because most ARTISTS, Intellectuals and bargain hunters (to say the least! HAH.)... well they sit on their ARSES all day and expect to be somebody. RATS! They're all RATS. Let's encourage the black neighborhoods and white brothers and sisters to engage in a form of PHYSICAL FITNESS for HEALTH. This will improve many things in their lives, including their lack of down-to-earth-ness by being fat and lazy.

PEACE and LOVE

BTW, some of the great early DADA artists of the 20th century felt that boxing was essential to art.

"Western intellectuals are all sitting-addicts. That's why most of you are so repulsively unwholesome. In the past even a duke had to do a lot of walking, even a moneylender, even a metaphysician. And when they weren't using their legs, they were jogging about on horses. Whereas now, from the tycoon to his typist, from the logical positivist to the positive thinker, you spend nine tenths of your time on foam rubber"

What does walking have to do with being somebody?

what's wrong with sitting? We have used our big brains so that we don't need to walk around. That is progress.

See, us artists don't sit down all day. Hard to paint that canvas sitting down.

Why be someone anyway? I like being a nobody.

Yes, We don't need to jump around the trees or fight for our life with swords.

What's the basis of your claim that artists are lazier today than they used to be? There are lots of artists today that aren't lazy, and many in the past that were. It doesn't seem accurate at all to say that.

Yeah, I don't understand the connection to artists as lazy. Based on my personal experience, artists are generally book people rather than TV people. At least one study has shown that book readers are generally more active and healthy than TV people (not saying that proves anything, draw your own conclusions).
