Ink Caps

Anyone know how to avoid or deal with ink caps? I thought I was growing pf. Turns out I had a couple of ozs of ink caps. I understand this to be a "weed" of the mushroom world, and that with its fast growth it can take over the entire substrate.
Any tips?

are ink caps edible? and are they phscedelic. i just looked up ink cap in my eyewitness handbook on mushrooms and ink caps seem like the ones all the time on the slope of this one hill. i used play with them and kick them around when i was young. are these ink caps that im talking of?

There are many different types of inky caps (genus Coprinaceae), some are choice edibles (Shaggy Manes Coprinus comatus) and some are edible with a caution because they contain a drug used to treat alcoholics .... no booze to be consumed with these !(Inky Cap - Coprinus atramentarius)

what about coprinus picaceus? i am pretty sure those are what i used to see.

if you have any old equipment that you want to get rid of that you are willing to trade for some new stuff the go here to:

wait a sec...how do these inkcap mushrooms grow in the first place, if its a lab environment where you know what's going in and out?

The Magpie Mushroom....According to David Arora, this one could be poisonous to some people. Not a common mushroom except in southern Cal.
