Ok, what is casing? I always thought casing was a term used for the growing of Mycelium. Or like the cake.

Casing is a layer of water retentive materials applied to a substrate to encourage and enhance fruitbody production.
For example, 50/50 casing is a mixture of 50% verm and 50% peat that is applied to the top of a substrate such as straw to help retain moisture.

i'm not too sure of the exact defenition, if there is one. an example of a casing is if you took 2 fully colonized pf cakes and crumbled them up into a deep baking pan or something like that. the put verm. or a thin layer of whatever on the top. then that would colonize and your mushrooms would grow more or less straight up and down. sorry for being so vague.
