white headed primordia
    #3638319 - 01/17/05 12:17 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

after a long long wait (caused by low temperature i guess) i finally had pins and now i see mini-fungi growing on my cake but... they are all white! the head, in particular, is white, whiter than the stem. shouldn't it be brown or at least darker than the stem? it is an ucuadorian strain...

Yes they should be darker right from the get go almost in most cases not including albinos and parasitic fungi.

that's like your pic, but heads are white in all fungi, not only one, so i would exclude the albino theory. time will tell. i'll post a pic tomorrow, maybe...

Do the little white heads move around :yesnod:.  Maybe the syringe got mislabeled and it's an albino strain, like mexican albino.

You can get entire flushes of albinos due to mutation. It could also be high humidity causing mycelium to grow on the caps if the caps are fuzzy and white...or some contam growing on the caps too....

Why would that exclude the albino theory? If anything that would be evidence toward that theory. IMO

yeah man, I hear ya. I got the same thing with my tasmanian. On the second flush, I was beginning to wonder if I had albinos. Even when the bodies grew a little, you could see the brown start to show thru the white.
What strain is it?
