Casing 2nd flush...now what?
    #3635453 - 01/16/05 03:41 PM (20 years, 4 days ago)

Well, I'm about to take everything off of my casing, it's a small casing, i'd say about 8x8x3....Well it got a bit of overlay, so i just recased a little bit, thinners than 1/4 of coco-coir and verm.

Well, i'm taking everything off and i was wondering if I should dunk it and how to go about that....I've dunked cakes before...but how do you dunk a casing? I've heard of scratching, but that's typically for overlay...Well, anygood ideas would be appreciated..O, and i've got sum sterilyzed manure, and i'm growing creeps, someone care to help?

- Thankx

Just make sure you dont have a fat pile of rotting pins on there and dunk.

It can be tricky to get it to stay under the water sometimes, make sure you dont smash up the casing to much trying to get it to stay under water.

(and keep yourself and the area CLEAN, and use a heafty dose of H2O2 in your dunk water)

You don't case with poo....poo isn't a casing material.
You can spawn your colonized substrate into poo...let that colonize.
Then you would case that.
Poo is more of a bulk substrate that should be cased.

Here are some casing posts : Click here!~

Good luck!~

Grain spawn is "spawned" to poo. (mixed into poo)

And I would case it before I fruited it.

I've never dunked a casing, just cakes , kind of seems that you'd end up with mush which green mold loves. You can keep a casing moist enough with misting (if it gets too dry). My casings go about a month 3-5 flushes I couldn't see submerging a casing in water and not coming out with anything but mud + green mold but I guess you learn something new every day.

Well, that;s why you make a diluded solution with h202...Plus misting doesn't get into the core of the casing where it counts, unless you over saturate, that's why you should dunk casings, plus the casing starts to lack water into the core after the 1st/2nd flush...So dunking's always good..=)

Well I decided to mix up my casing mix with some fresh horse poo.
I'm letting the sub. reconfigure itself, then i'ma case with verm. and coco-coir probably..hopefully i'll see something worth all the work (horse poo...leeching...and jus plain dealing with it lol)

Don't remeber if i posted about this yet but here it is lol =)

I've been trying a few different things with my cases and it seems it might work best for me to dunk the case in water and h2o2. I submerge the case with a jar of substrate(always on hand), and then mist with more h202 and water after draining water. Then I'm dunking the case into vermaculite, like I would with a cake. Mist the thing and then mabye take it out of the tupperware comtainer if its on its last run.
