Substrate too dry?
    #3636462 - 01/16/05 08:30 PM (20 years, 4 days ago)

I am a first time grower, and I have spent many many hours reviewing this site. Today I started my Pf-cakes, 9 in total =D. I used kitchen-available things to prepare my substrate e.g.: canning pot. Everything seems to be working out so far, cept for one thing, I might have made a mistake with the water content of the cakes.

If the cakes are too dry, and I don't see any development within the first 5 or 6 days, is there anything I can do about it? Thanks for your time!

**EDIT**
I just had an Idea, and I'd like your opinion to see if you think it would work. If my cakes, which I think are too dry, do start to grow, could I add a few ml's of Peroxidated water or even a peroxidated starch (agar) solution? The way I think about it, If it has a little peroxide the mycellium might need to adapt for a day or two, but if I added a little starch, it may help to bulk up the cake, maybe I'll even come out a little bit ahead of where I would be if the cakes went smoothly from the beginning.

I guess you could try injecting some water (sterilized of course) into the jars if you're going to toss them anyway. :goodluck:

Wait another 5 or 6 days and if still nothing, toss them and try again.
