ID help
    #3636116 - 01/16/05 08:52 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I found this one a few feet away from a tree
It was in Chatsworth, LA, California.

Pictures:

I think the spore print is white, because there was white dust on the grass under it, but im making one right now.

The stem was very fragile, and it broke off.

Thanks

not active, and it does not look edible..

For future reference, you can probably narrow down the field of ideal edible and active mushrooms in your area with a simple search... Saves a lot of time in the field with catalog and identification work

What kind of tree was it near?

At a quick glance it looks like a Collybia, possibly close to Collybia dryophila. That species prefers the company of oaks.

Happy mushrooming!
