    #3631813 - 01/15/05 06:05 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

if i created a multiboot system with winXP, linux, and openBSD all on the same hard drive in partitions, could they all access another hard drive with all my mp3's, dvd's, etc.?
or would there be a conflict with ntfs, etc?

They will all be able to read from it! I have heard of problems mounting NTFS for write in BSD though! linux probably can do it.

Windows will not even see the linux and bsd partitions.

Linux and BSD will be able to see all of the partitions.  Linux and BSD will be able to mount for read and write each of their partitions.  Linux will for sure be able to mount the NTFS partition for read, BSD *should* be able to...  Neither will be able to write to the NTFS partition.

There isn't yet a completed free *n?x NTFS driver, so the best you can hope for is reading in linux (means you CAN listen to all your mp3s and what not, just can't save more).

There *are* work arounds, though.  Many of them are difficult to manage, though, and if you don't know enough about it already you're going to have a hard time getting it working.

Good luck
