scrape verm. layer?
    #363068 - 07/29/01 05:38 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

My friend is about to birth some cakes. You know the layer of verm. on the top? Should she scrape that off, or leave it on.
If she leaves it on she'll flip the cake over, so that the verm. is now on the bottom.

I prefer to scrape it off then replace it with fresh, damp verm.

since the cakes are kinda hard to get out, i just turn the jar upside down, and then lighty tap it fo awhile. most of the verm falls off before the cake falls out, but the verm that is still on i just lightly brush off with my fingers. i am not too sure if this is the right method for cakes because i have only grown from cakes once and i did the hippie tek. this method works for casings though.

i may, fucking drop something natural somewhere and it might grow into another piece of shit like you. i dont recognize any of you fucking people, youre not real, you came out of comic books.

Go ahead and remove it. The upper layer of verm will (ideally) protect the wet substrate from air borne contaminants. Especially if you are not using micron disks on your jars, scrape the dry verm layer off just to cover all your bases.

hello friend

just a sugestion. when you put the cakes in the terrium put them verm layer up. (if you have them colinizating with the lid up ) gravity tells them wich way is up and so if you turn them upside down they will try to grow out of the bottom.

Who's afraid of the Big, Bad, Wolf?....HOWL!!!
