you should soak at least, hatch the endospores, otherwise the pc may not kill em

That soaking IS a good precaution will not say it IS impossible without.
WHat some do with popcorn is they PC twice.
Once in the water (not in jars) PC the corn for an hour. This gives good heat penetration in the corn and adds water content.
Then drain half an hour till you feel that its not too wet anymore. Put in Jars and PC again. "They" do it only 60 minutes, to be extra sure you can do the usual 90 minutes and try this with WBS.
Since my middle name is mister impatience I started with this. Good growth in the corn. But since I also hate to fuck up, I now soak and dont use corn but WBS.
Good luck hope I was of any help...

I "stole" that "tek" from a swedish growersite where I have been lurking a while. They grow a lot on popcorn there.
I dont know. maybe on WBS one must adjust the PC times. Since corn kernals are tough bastards I think millet (WBS ingredient) can turn to mush after PC-ing twice....

Well I just melted down my pc while having a heated discussion with the wife. So needless to say I'm off to EBay. My 6 quarter wasn't big enough anyways. I'd like to get a 22 quart. Don't know if I'm willing to pay a fortune for a guage on top or just a plaino janeo

It didn't actually melt bro. I ran out of water. I only put about an inch worth when I should put more i guess. The bottom is warped a little now.But the safety valve never blew! I was very freaked because we have a flat glass top electric stove and with my luck it would have been ruined but I caught it just in time. But not soon enough for grain.:(

Ouchhhhh
Always make sure to put enough water in the pressure cooker.
I always use at least 3" of water in mine...depending on the jar size.
Your lucky it didn't blow up on you!~ I've seen some pictures of the damage a pressure cooker can do...and it aint pretty. I'm glad that you didn't blow up your stove or get injured. Remember that a pressure cooker can be like a time bomb...always watch the bastard and never pc when you are tired or busy doing other crap.
Buy a used All American pressure cooker off Ebay. They are the best and you can get a great deal if you bid on one in the last few seconds of the auction.
Good luck!~
