"Are you trying to prove some point again Swami?"
Are you doubting that Swami possesses this ability? If he is making the claim it must be true; why should we think otherwise? So, please don't insult him (or his believers) by baiting us with this left brained nonsense.

I've heard stories that some Enlightened monks in Tibet could fly around. Their explanation why we don't ever see anything like that is because our karma determines the realities we experience, so if our minds are very mundane we only see mundane things. Also the rise of science and materialism in the West has created a culture where miracles are impossible because nobody believes in them. Our common reality does not allow for such occurrences so they cannot happen, or at least ever be percieved.

Ive said this before its our beliefs that limit our abilities

do you believe Jesus walked on water or Moses split the sea.
our minds have the ability to overcome physics as we know it today, however our thoughts are disseminated with the information age and technology etc. in the past mans mind was more powerful. That doesn't mean however those things couldn't be done today as it was done in the past.

I certainly would not believe such things based on hearsay in a book written long after such events supposedly took place.

And what precisely governs the laws of physics? If everything in this universe functions by causality, than 'laws' of physical phenomena must have a cause as well. Nothing is as solid or absolute as it seems.

As far as anyone knows mind is the entire basis for reality so the self-perpetuating mental continium is the cause for all realities to become manifest. It does not seem impossible that mind and reality are interdependent.

No, that is definitely a possibility.
It's also an assumption that is not currently falsifiable.

The laws of physics, quantum mechanics particularly, dictates that the role of the observer influences the observed reality(in this case, the actions of subatomic particles).

So yeah, you were just clarifying for Cosm, not making a contrary reply, right? :smirk:

I don't think you can equate the measurement problem to "its our beliefs that limit our abilities".

If the Universe is truly infinite in the Quantum sense (above the atomic level), then what is experienced is dependent upon the observer in the most fundamental way. The consciousness literally determines which of infinite possible realities become manifest based upon the habits (karma) of the mental continium. Thus imprints from past thoughts and actions become the determining factor on what kind of universe we inhabit.

Notice that those who believe in the bending of the laws of physics cannot themselves do so. Seems I brought this type of "promotion" up in a recent thread...

I know how you can fly. You changed the aerodynamic moment on your arms, which affected the dynamic pressure so the curl and divergence of the lift coefficient changed. This is only possible if you change the vorticity with your left finger and decrease the velocity potential around your left foot. According to Euler you would stall at an angle of attack of 14 degree. Am I right?

So if you personally cannot kick Evander Holyfield's ass, it must be completely impossible for anyone, anywhere to ever do it. Or if I'm not literally in the country of Tanzania then I can't possibly begin to surmise that it exists?

Your reasoning that past personal experience is the only way to validate a view or belief is ridiculous. A heroin junky will have a better life if they give it up (a few months/years later anyway). Just because they have not experienced a positive sober life up to that point is not reason to discount it and continue shooting up 3 times a day.

Your reasoning is the type that depressed get stuck on which prevents them from going anywhere or making any changes. It is a mind which percieves very few possibilities.

Isn't there a difference between beleiving in a possibility versus what is not. I think people who beleive in an ability to bend spoons just beleive in a probable possibility yet unrealised. There is tons of shit I beleive possible, thought I have not yet realised or proved it to be so to myself, yet.

Like that saying, you can only get as far as you reach so reach far. yes, you may not get to the furtherest star but because you reached for it, you grabbed the ten that were next closest in, where as the guy who only reached for the One star that was closest because it was the "realistic" one only ended up with one.

Funny how this is really about daring to dream and dream big. Matches your other post about inability to dream. So, you have these two post staring at ya? What do they mean to you, who cares what others make of them, what do they mean to you? No need to answer on the board or to anyone.

Irrelevant strawman arguments.

Your reasoning that past personal experience is the only way to validate a view or belief is ridiculous. A heroin junky will have a better life if they give it up (a few months/years later anyway). Just because they have not experienced a positive sober life up to that point is not reason to discount it and continue shooting up 3 times a day.
Yet another strawman.

Your reasoning is the type that depressed get stuck on which prevents them from going anywhere or making any changes. It is a mind which percieves very few possibilities.
False assumption.
