Is there such a thing as free virus software.
    #3630425 - 01/15/05 08:53 AM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I noticed how easily we can be hacked into. I also noticed the number of websites we have on the internet. I'm starting to realize that most websites could be scams. I'm going to start a list of scam websites. First thing i noticed on Windowsreinstall.com was the fact that they are offering free virus software. In my case I would like free virus software, but to the point that this virus software may be a plot to get people to download hacking software.

First website is windowsreinstall.com. They have netscape software that makes Netscape shut down and they are offering free virus software. Look fishy?

Peace,
Droz

How easily YOU can be CRACKED/INFECTED.

Proper precautions, education, and such, it's not hard to be nigh-bulletproof to most of the script kiddies.

... but to answer the topic question, "yes". I generally wouldn't get anything that isn't also available on Tucows, et al without a good rating, either.

Also, check out Majorgeeks - Antivirus Software. It's a collection of freeware and shareware that is reviewed by knowledgeable people, so you shouldn't have to worry about getting nonos.

I've heard both AVG or Avast are excellent as well as not hogging resources like Norton.

I've tried AVG and avast. I used avast a lot more than AVG, but that's also because I liked it a lot better.
