I got an idea that I thought of after ingesting 10g of morning glory seeds last night. I think it would work, but I'm not sure because I'm not a geneticist lol.

Anyway, you know how they modify the genetics of bacteria to produce insulin for diabetics? Well, could you do that with other kinds of organic molecules, such as LSD or various tryptamines like psilocybin? Because I believe that some kind of mold produces LSD and tons of various plants and animals produce tryptamines. All the genetic code is there, you would just have to modify the code of some kind of bacteria to produce it. I don't know if it would work with any hallucinogens, but it works with insulin so who knows. Like I said, I ain't a geneticist.

So instead of just putting in the code to make the chemical you would need to also put in additional code to make the enzymes needed to make the chemical? The bacteria would keep reproducing right? So after you produce your genetically altered bacteria you wouldn't need all the lab equipment and precursors needed for LSD. You would just keep making bacteria cultures and harvesting the LSD. I read this post about how only like 10 people are skilled enough to make LSD and then on top of that the precursors are very hard to get, so maybe this would be an alternative.

I don't think it's true that only 10 people are skilled enough to make LSD when one can buy books on how to do it...

More than 10 people are skilled enough to make LSD...  Probably not too many more than that actually are, though.

Are you familiar with Dr. Nichols work with LSD and mamilian gene expression.

No, actually I am not. Would you have a link to a couple of PDF papers, or the references that I could look this up by chance? Could you summarize it for the group as well?
