Wonder how many times they had to poke it before it did some tricks, now, that's the amazing thing about that video. Besides that nothing to great and spectacular

Why do you assume they had to poke it? I NEVER had to poke my dog to do any tricks, he enjoys doing tricks and spending time with me. Elephants are smart, why do you assume they don't ENJOY playing around with us? Other mammals do, such as dolphins or dogs... Humans aren't the only intelligent animals that enjoy having fun.

Why would you assume that I am THAT serious about what I've said? Well, they poke elephants to train them how to walk in a circle to ride kids on their backs, they shock them with a prod to get them to neal down so they can pick up the trainer.
So why not do that to get them to swing a ball around with their trunks
oh yeah and have you trained your dog to not shit and piss in the house? i'm sure you have and i'm sure you had to use some kind of force against it. maybe with a newspaper roll or a smack to the ass, or taking it's face and putting it in the piss and yelling at it

Actually if you have ever read any dog training books than you would know not use any physical force. I only had to use a firm no, and put him outside... Not "poke him," or use some object to punish him.

And I wasn't talking about circus elephants where they are kept in cages when not performing, and stuffed in trains/trucks to transport them all around. I'm talking about domesticated Indian Elephants that have been used for thousands of years in India.

Hmmm some dog books huh ,well, do you think a big beast like an elephant will listen to a simple "pick up the ball with your trunk, swing your trunk in a way that you can throw back and kick the ball with your rear leg?" I don't think so bud and I wouldn't give a fuck if they DID use electrical caddle prods. i'm just saying that in fact they do use force with such a massive creature.
and i'm sure some elephants want to be taken out of 1000 years of being in the wild to swing a god damned ball around for some indian entertainment.

The dog books say that so they won't sound like abusers when in reality everyone knows that using force is the way to do it :smirk:

and I wasn't talking about "poking the dog" I was talking about "poking the huge animal" I was talking about smacking the dog upside the head with a roll of newspaper

But hey, maybe i'm wrong, I doubt it, but I could be

I agree with boiled. I usually have to whack our dog a few times for any point to get across. It is like if a child were to never get burnt in his whole life. He would be curious and eventually have to get burnt in order for him to learn that hot stuff isnt fun.
My sister has that same theory with the book and shit, its a load of crap. Im sure the trainer is off in the back smacking the shit out of the helpless dog repeadedly, trying to get it to lye down.
Our dog continues to bark when my sister says "no, bad boy, no no bark stop, no thats not good, no no more bark, go lye down, no"

It all ends when I run from what I was prevously doing, and inflict pain upon him- usually just a good hard smack on the head and he shuts the hell up, and its over.
Im not an animal abuser, I just must say that you must use a shocking collar or a choking chain or a high-pitched electronic noise or a good whap of the hand in order to make the dog learn. Point proven, end of discussion.

p.s.- Rubbing the dogs nose in its shit works wonderfully.

That sucks. You don't deserve to have a dog. Animals learn best by reward. You just create one traumatised, scared dog by hitting it, electricuting it etc.

Yeah, you're right man. I was mostly just kidding, but what you just said did have an impact on me.
It's not my dog, its my sisters, and to be honest, I dont like him. Not a good loyal dog, its one of those smaller breeds- useless, except for eating crumbs off the ground.
I overdid it with the saying "I smack my dog" for some laughs.
Dont think this world is as bad as I made it sound- Its all a joke.

Pretty much. Boo fucking hoo? Smacking the shit out of a dog repeatedly is pretty harsh.

Other methods of behaviour change are effective. Here ya go - this site tells you how to do it.
