mushroom identification problem

I've read that copelandia mushrooms do not have a veil...I'm trying to identify a mushroom I'm growing. I think its a strain of Hawaiian cope but it has a veil. Other features are: mushroom cap 3cm width, brownish top going into whiteish edge, slightly dimpled looking cap. stem 3/4 cm width...striated,white going down to a brownish bottom jet black print but purple in syringe grows on straw

Um- how about a picture...
sounds like a SMALL mushroom- it may be a mexicana strain....
why do you not know the mushrooms you grow yourself

Yeah, I see what ya mean, it is a bit strange looking for a cube. The cap seems a bit whiter and the striations on the stem, but the veil is there. Seems the base of the cube would be whiter too. Keep us updated...

If you can post a spore print on white paper we could know for sure. It looks like P. cubensis to me.

There are no mushrooms known as real Hawaiian cubes. they are only grown in basements or someones closets or attics in Hawaii. That mushroom you have looks like a cube. The caps margin is incurved and there appears to be remnants of a veil on the top side of the stem. The color is that of a cube. mj And while you did get a camera, it did not take a good photograph of the mushroom. The image is all blurred. Some people sell spores for Hawaiian shrooms and do not mention if they are copes or the Hawaiian cubes sold by Exotica Pacific Spora, a Hawaiian spore supplier whose p.o. box was three over from mine in Hawaii but they did not want to meet with me when Ron Piper of Psychedelic Illuminations Magazine tried to set up a meeting between us. They were paranoid. Anyaway, Its like the cubensis in Amsterdam which they called Psilocybe mexicanus. There is no such species. But many users in Amsterdam think it is the famed P. mexicana of the Mazatecs when it really isn't. mj What you have grown is a cube and someone sent you a wrong print by mistake. Thats the only think I can think of to explaine the shroom you have,. mj

I have to agree with mj cubie for sure as it doesn't come close to resembling a pan, BTW interesting info mj

Like others have said, that is Psilocybe cubensis. That looks nothing like Copelanida cyanescens, way too beefy and as you said, it has a veil. Spore print will also indicate that it's not a Cope. Copes have jet black prints, cubes have purple-brown prints.
