hum, you can buy a used fracto meter on ebay or somewhere.... technically that is the only way to measure levels.

Or you could make a pill of the material and cut it with some crap and send it to that dancesafe ecstasy testing place and say it is a pill of e... they have a tester. You could see if they would just test it for you, they test e after all.

A refractometer is used to measure levels a solution or mixture based on the change of the density and thus the light breaking ability of the solution or mixture.

The concentration of the alkaloids in the mushrooms is far less than what it would have to be to be able to be used with a refractometer, besides, you can not distinguish the constituents this way.

In one sentence: a refractometer is not suitable for determining levels of alkaloids in mushrooms.

You could get a Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometer off e-bay and test for content

Well you could do a extraction with ethanol or methanol or another solvent used in extractions on shrooms.
But that won't be that accurate but after the extraction filtering etc you could weight the crystals but for a accurate outcome you would def need to have acces to a lab and knowleadge of the dif teks.
And btw what do you need to know the exact alcaloid content for ?
