Casing Concerns...
    #362813 -

I have noticed people saying that ones casing can be "overrun" or taken over by mycellium...I was wondering if this was such a bad thing...and if so, what are it's leading causes, and ways of prevention.

When the mycelium colonises the casing completely it has overrun it, this can be prevented by cold shocking or deep scratching the casing and ive also heard that 'spraying back' the mycelium can help as well...If it has overrun the casing, the csaing is now really just another layer of substrate

Couldn't you subsequently expose the casing to light to allow it to fruit?

To whom it may concern

the three things it take for the mycellium to start to produce the fruit or shrooms is a change in : light, temp, co2.

Light will tell it wich way is up. all you need is some sunlight or flourcent bulb, for a few hours.

Temp if you keep your jars at the same temp you plan on fruiting you might mant to cold shock them in the fridge.

Co2 put an air tight cover on you casings for a few days, this will build up the co2 levels, so when to take the cover off it will drop and they will fruit.
