using alcohol swabs as air-filters

Would this be okay?? Im basically just covering the inoculation points with alcohol swabs, instead of my usual method of covering these holes with cotton wool dipped in h202...any suggestions/ comments??

I did it once sometime back and it worked for larger holes so I do not see why it would not work for smaller holes
