First correct reply gets two pc prints..

Given:
Two trains are on a collision course are 12.8 miles apart. The track is perfectly straight and level. One train is traveling 3.3 mph the other, 4.1 mph. Now, it seems there is a fly that is flying back and forth from train to train at an average speed of 11.8 mph.

Determine:
How far does the fly travel before it is smashed between the locomotive engines?

Show your work for a bonus print!

Ok..how about this. The fly will travel about 16.992 miles before the trains intersect and kill it. Because it will take the trains about 1 hour and 44 minutes to intersect. I kinda rounded a few numbers but..that should be close enough. Am i right?

Vector sum of trains A and B = (3.3 + 4.1) = 7.4 MpH

Time for trains to collide = (12.8M / 7.4MpH) = 1.73 Hours

Distance covered by the fly until the trains collide
= 1.73H * 11.8M/H = 20.41 Miles

Mmmm - I can just taste those pc's now! :-)
