Shades of Religion
    #3622770 - 01/13/05 11:38 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

My problem is that people have problems with religion. It doesn't mean you are wrong, but it shows that our ideas of religion are different. I have gone through periods where I didn't have faith in my life, I wrote bad things about the Church, but I think I was wrong now. I see that I was mistaken, that is important. It's very much like Paul. We have to teach ourselves the stories. It isn't really about the people preaching being humble driving nice cars. It's about the truth being provided to you, and you accepting or rejecting it. I certainly don't think there is one cosmic truth. I'm also certain that you would be a fool to mock things you don't understand.

My problem with religion is that religion has many problems.

But there are so many different groups of people who claim to have the "truth". How do you recognise the truth when it is provided to you?

What do you mean by one cosmic truth? In the question "what is two plus two", the true answer is 4. In this case there is one truthful answer. In order to assess a cosmic truth, you need a cosmic question. What is the cosmic question?

All religoins are beneficial!

Its the ideas of some of the people who practice them that scares me.
Like the Muslim Extrmeists, and all the Christians that have killed, raped and pillaged in the name of God.

If people just practiced the basic rules and precepts of their religions, the world wouldnt be in such a bad state as is it today!

Anyone seen the King of Earth around here? I am not laughing, I don't know what to think. I certainly think it's ok to speak as Christ if you are doing it right. Some people just get it all wrong.

Yeah mam i agree, this guy mixes all different philospphies together in one big megalomaniac pot, and spews it out into various forums and tries to convince people that he's god!

Or am i confusing 'The King of the Earth' (the guy you on about) with 'The Emporer of the Earcth' aka spacedragon!

Most "religions" all have the same basic laws.

I'm a Muslim, and for the record I will hereby say that Religion is used to control other people. In the Muslim world it's used to suject people to religious dictatorship, and in the developed world, it's used to hinder social and scientific progress.

You can tell there is something wrong with the dogma, if barking orders is what that's called. Isn't the rule of Islam, Allah is God and Mohammad was his only prophet or something like that. Then in Christianity of course it's Christ as the only lord and savior. All this is to me is a cultural switch from poly to mono. The Greeks and Romans had many Gods that lit the heavens. We are focusing on the One. We are getting closer.

the basic wisdom is the same in each,
then there are factions and higher lower distictions in the cannon of each as the penetration becomes more and more regional nationalistic dogmatic and control oriented.

it's not about one god or many

it's about what can be found of use (within any chosen religion) and yet obtain maximum dignity for self and other.
