This is crazy the biggest one weighed 8.6 grams a few hours after picking. We found this patch and questioned wether they were even cyans. They were too big, we damn near passed em up. Almost this size of a the palm of my hand and they had half inch to an inch caps thick caps!!!! I havnt even seen pictures of ones this big!!!!!!!! We pick about 85 g's wet total today. Pretty small haul, but it was worth it for the MONSTERS!!!! The small one in the pic is actually the average large sized cyan I normally pic. These where the size and girth of large cubes!! Except the stem wich is rather small for the top-heavy caps

Alright, alright, so they arent the BIGGEST EVER!! well they felt huge and heavy in my hand jumping from 1.5 inch round, at best, to 2.5 round can be an exciting feeling. Like I said they were so big and in a cluster climbing on each other, that they looked like some other kind of mushroom. We were dumbfounded. One of them weighed in at 8.6 grams 2 hours after it was picked. An average sized whopper weighs 3 grams wet tops!! You just had to be there. Did I mention the cap was almost a full inch thick!! By the way whats a common name for weiliis?

I had a fresh one in 1979 when we had a Mushroom authors book party at Homestead Book Company. Me (Magic Mushrooms of the PNW), Paul Stamets (Psilocybe Mushrooms and their Allies), Richard Hans Norland (Whats in a Mushrom Part 4), Richard Alan Miller (Magikal Mushroom Handbook), Bob Harris (Growing Wild Mushrooms), Gary Menser (Hallucinogenic and Poisonous Mushroom Field Guide) and Steve Jewell and Rich Gee (How to Grow and Identify Psilocybe Mushrooms). The shroom weight forty-fie grams fresh and did spread throughout most of the palm of my hand. It was distorted and mutaed and the waviness of the fresh cap, found under pine ferns branching out grew in an oblongated manner. At first my friend and I who found it thought is was a whole group of shroms hiding under the branches on the ground. We got 7 people smashed and we had soem baby cyans which three people ate too many and went tothe university hospital for a dysphoric reaction. But that cyanesens was monsterous. Sorry we never had a photo but here are some big ones. These were rather large. This cluster weigh almost 61 grams and was six mushrooms. 10 people ate these at the party. This one was from the Freeway Park, which, as we have discussed previously, has had no magic shrooms since 1984. people got good and close to god off of these large shrooms.

Here is an 18 grammer form last fall in woodchips and tall rank grass. That is a quarter in the center of the cap.

the stems on mine were only about an inch long, They were growing in some pine needles/woodchips mix and for some reason they were just short.

hey deathcap, are you SURE those are cyans? i only ask cuz those look awful close to the fibs i've found which can get rather large, especially in the thickness of the cap and the short, wide stem. can't tell in your photos but the real difference was in the cap; cyans have those cute li'l nipples and the edges get wavy very quickly in age. the fib's cap center is slightly depressed.
again, these are just my observations but i'm getting more and more intrested in these fibs i'm finding...

No they where cyans...most definatly, some have told me a species I found a block from my house were fibs, but they dont look it to me. All I know ids the blueing was much stronger on the supposed fibs. Here are some more pics...
Here they are in comparison from largest to smallest. The ones in the middle are the average sized "big" ones I have found in the past.
Also note that it appears that these caps are attempting to wave but they are SOOO THICK that they are having a hard time waving like other cyans....its pretty weird
