Network Connections

How come when I'm on some sites, it lags, takes for ever to load, and then I finally lose my connection? I'm sure it's flooding my connnection, and either my ISP has it set to disconnect, or too much bandwidth is being used?

I run a high speed internet connection into my router, and from my router to;
My laptop (1.8ghz,256ram, XP system) My roomates PC (1.2ghz?, 512ram, 98) thats it.

My laptop is only on maybe 7 hours a day? His is on all the time, it's a laggy, sloth ass machine.

Could his machine be taking up all the bandwidth? Whats the best way to find out?

Find out what he does with his computer. Does he download music/films etc? That really steals the bandwidth.
