Can't find Geo-Lite...but "Grow Rocks" ?

At the local headshop they don't sell what's known as Geolite, however they had some little pellets known as "Grow Rocks". They were small balls, kinda rough and obviously pourous. The lady said they can be washed in hydrogen peroxide and reused, which sounded quite a bit like geolite to me.
A 40lb bag was $35, so I hesitated to buy them at that time, however I'd like to know whether or not these will work the same way in a PMP as geolite?

Just a suggestion, use perlite instead. It's a lot cheaper than that, and most superstores and garden centers carry it. Just my .02 though.

GroRocs, Geolite, Hydroton are all the same thing. Expanded clay pellets.

You'll be alot happier with grow rocks over perlite. 40 pounds should be enough for a couple PMP's.

How about "Red Lava Rocks" ? A huge bag of these is only $9, quite a drop from the $40 for the GroRocks...however if they don't work as well (or at all) I'll just spend for the good stuff.
The lava rocks I'm talking about are pourous, and were found in the "Decorative Stone" area of Lowes.

Lava rocks will work in a pinch but you loose way too much surface area and you will not get close to the same results IMO.
