Just add H2O? How?

Thanks to all who have helped me with my previous questions. Now I have a couple more, if anyone wants to help.
Last I asked what to do to stimulate slow-growing colonization jars. I was told "give them air". I did, punching 2 nail holes in each jar. The pressure was such that the nail almost shot up through the ceiling! (this mean anything?)
Lo and behold! 2 days later the fastest growing jar has gone from 20% to 50% colonized!! However, the rest of them aren't showing much if any change. I wonder if they need water? They do look a bit dry.
I've seen suggestions here to use a syringe to shoot some water in. Do I need a syringe? Water if I just boil water, let it cool a bit, and open the jars just long enough to spray some in? They are close to a month old now.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The pressure was a gopd thing in that they probably remained sterile. How did you innoculate them? Most people already have the holes punched before sterilzation. My friend has had some vacuum with just the tape penetration at innoculation. Twice, this vacuum sucked out about 6-8 cc of innoculant before she could stop it.
As far as hydrating a cake in the jar, it is best to use a sterile syringe in to the center of the cake with only a few cc's of sterile (room-temp) water. But before you do this ensure you need to.

I inoculated them by scraping spores from a spore print into the jar . . didn't make holes, as per the "shroom wizard" tel.
OK, so add water if I need to . . . how do I tell? They look kind of dry, but I am inexperienced at eyeballing such things.
How much water?
Thanks

First off, think about how you made your substrate. Did you follow directions in the Tek? If so, you probably have enough moisture. If you see any moisture on the sides of your jars, or if the verm and flour look moist, you should be ok.
If you decide to inject water, I'm not sure how much you would use. My guess is 3-5 ccs per jar.

just following up on mindquester. if you are going to add water try doing it to half your jars first.
then if that works do it to the rest.

Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"

Good idea . . in fact, I think I'll even go it one better.
I'll inject just the right half of all the jars, and if it works, then I will also inject the left half.

Heh, it doesn't work like that. Each jar is containing a living organism. You give half of it water, it'll distribute that water to the other half. Only do half your jars.

About a month ago I was messing around with microwave sterlization of a couple of camby jars. I micro'd these 2 jars for 1/2 hr (Those 2 boys were cooking). Stuck em in the closet and started messing around with casings of a previous 12 jars that were about ready. So 2 weeks later nothing was going on "Nada" which wasnt tooooo surprising as it looked liked I micro'd ALL the fuckin moisture out even though I had a seperate bottle of water in the micro for keeping the humidity inside. Anyways to get to the point I micro boiled some water let it cool, emptied out the top layer of dry verm adding alittle less than 1/4 cup (pint jar) of water to the substrate ASAP. Now things look as normal as if they were sterilized in the more common methods after a few days to a week. I have growth at the areas of innoculation, though Im alittle more concerned about getting through this without any contams. We'll see....
