How does that thing work exactly? Looks like there's aluminum foil in there...

Stir plate has electromagnet that spins a magnetic plastic coated stir bar inside a glass container - without direct contact. No tin foil in there. Vortex of spinning water - caused by stir bar. Camera shutter speed freezes it's motion. So you see it still - rather than spinning inside the jar.

Object is to highly disperse & suspend spores in solution for syringes. Not making spore tea

It's like a karo jar, except it won't produce myc., nothing to grow on.
Basically it's so that you can make an S-load of syringes...from one print...but you can always add more if you're meticlous and just like to be on the safe side.....
And i though that's what it was, but i should have viewed it larger i suppose

Would you be able to do this w/o one of those lil machines?
Could I put a cap inside of a jar and then take it out when it drops its spores and then put sterilyzed water in there and shake?....Cuz that'd be badass =)

Just syringe making on large scale. Spores will sometimes germinate in a syringe at room temps & you will see tiny wispy myc in them.Pretty hard to stir something in sealed jar, without stir plate. You can always just SHAKE THE SHIT OUT OF IT

You can also drop spores from cap DIRECT into water.

Septa plug installed in sun tea jar where spigot was. Only problem is - you cannot shake it, or filter gets wet. To shake, replace with solid lid.

Paint shaker is not cheaper. If you doubt that, price them. Got stir plate on eBay for $23.
