I can't seem to find Tyvek. Can I get away with doing a PF TEK technique without using Tyvek?

Did you read the pf-tek?
Did you see Tyvek mentioned anywhere?

Good point. I just assumed people favoured Tyvek these days.

I like tyvek when I'm doing grains, but I'm usualy using quarts ans gallon jars
during colonization, vermiculite and a little tape goes a long way with the PF Tek
so tyvek is really a waste of resources with it.

Pris, how long do those gallon jars take with G2G?

If incubation conditions are optimal & you use 3 heaping tablespoons of well broken up colonized grains, then shake well to evenly distribute them into the fresh grains in the gallon jar, about 10 - 12 days.

what agar said... starting from spores in a spawn bag and then transfering all that to multiple grain jars it's a little over 35 days with cubensis.

 Yup.....About the same for spores-->quart grain jar--->G2G-->gallon jar.

I don't recommend spore innoc into a gallon grain jar. For some odd reason (hell if I know why), they seem to stall. At least for me.

Oddly..... fairly heavy G2G into a gallon jar does not?

what I find unusual is the same volume of grain in a bag does just fine

I believe the filter patch material on Unicorn type bags, allows for more effective gas exchange, over a Tyvek lid filter on a gallon jar. Only thing I can think of.......

easiest place i know of to find tyvek(next to stealing it from work, im a carpenter), is an office supply store such as staples, tyvek envolopes there go for about $20 for a pack of 50. one envelope should do at least 6 jars, most likely more, i have them, but havnt tried em yet, im still gathering supplies and building my glovebox for my 3rd grow run, i have like a year and a half inbetween each run and i keep trying more advanced stuff each time.

Look in your computer CD collection. If you find a sleeve that is silky/soapy feeling... that is tyvek. (Looks like fiberglass paper.)
