I'm having a difficult time understanding the preparation of the terrarium. Could some please either post, IM, or ICQ me one of the easiest ways of building a terrarium with an ultra sonic humidifier. Thanks!

Okay, hopefully this will help you out a bit. First and foremost let me say that I do not use humidifiers, or bubblers. I, myself, am a perlite kind of guy. A lot of people don't like to use it because it is messy or it smells or what-have-you, but I've never had any kind of problem like that. Secondly, and most importantly when considering terrarium building, is your light source. Get a flourescent light, they give off very little heat, and won't melt tough plastics. Then, you must choose your actual terrarium base...wether it be a glass fish tank type or a plastic bin. If you go with the plastic bin, I suggest getting one that is totally solid in color (not clear at all). This keeps nosy passers-by from looking at your special project. What I do is take the lid, and heat it up with a blow dryer (or a professional grade shrink-wrap heat gun, these work great). This makes it much easier to cut into without having the plastic shatter - which it is known to do (believe me, I've gone through several plastic bins this way.) Then, depending on what kind of lighting structure you have, drill some holes or cut out a section so light can get into the terrarium, but not out. Hopefully, you understand what I mean by this, as I am much too impatient to use proper wording in order to detail the idea. Keep the light on for 12 hours a day, keep your perlite in a tray (Just small enough to rest comfortably on the bottom of the terr.). Fan twice to thrice a day and maybe mist it once a day. Easy as pie. I know you probably want to use that cool mist humidifier, but as I stated earlier I don't, and don't see the need for it really unless you want a totally automated system. But who needs that, really? Then you don't get to look at your beautiful shroomies enough. And we all love to admire our work, right? Good luck! If you need any more info, let me know. If you really want to use that cool mist humi., do a search for it. If you can't find anything, let me know and I'll see what I can dig up. Peace. -Ankh

To whom it may concern I have uesd both perlite and cool mist terriums. They both work. I would recomend to you , a newbie, to KEEP IT SIMPle. The perlite method is the easy way to go because : it coast less, you don't need too may tools, and they are easy to build. Trust me the cool mist can be fun (for a little bit ) to have ,and it can run more terriums, but coast me 100-200 $ for supplies and i don't even use it any more. Try the Hawks Tanks. I have been checking it out and i think i'm going to try it. It uses perlite. well i hope i could help.

I read the MMGG page and it still seems kind of complicated. It's hard when you don't know what half the shit is. Like a grommet. Wtf is that? And in one part it says something about drilling a hole in the exaust or something. They want me to drill a hole in the humidifier? Ok, i know i sound like a moron but i need your guys help! PLEEEAASSEE!!

Very easy to do. First read everything again. Then go buy a big to medium rubbermaid tub. Clean it out. Put 2 inches of perlite in the bottom. Pour in about 1/2 inch of water with some h2o2 ( hydrogen peoxide) mixed in with it. Voila...you have a terrarium. I would get the bins with clear sides and an almost clear blue lid. You will see water droplets running down the side after an hour or two. Read all the other documents for temp ranges, etc.

grom?met (grmt) also grum?met (grm-) n. A reinforced eyelet, as in cloth or leather, through which a fastener may be passed. Still puzzled? Open up your computer and have a look at the rubber ring where the wires are coming out of your power supply, or open your car door and have a look where the wires are passing through. You're surrounded by grommets, they're also those young annoying kids who love to waste waves...

it is really quite simple to do. first you take the humidifier, and then you somehow make sure the mist that is getting put out is going into youre terrarium (using some type of hosing) and then, you put a filter patch (i use vaccum cleaner bags) on the lid. then you put another hole somewhere so that an air hose from youre air pump can go in, and make sure the hose goes near the bottom of the terrarium. then, you give it some sort of light, and hook up the humidifier to a really good timer. this setup will set you back anywhere from around $60-$100, and it takes alot of work to set-up, but once it is it works great. if you cant afford it, or what i just said doesnt make sense, then do this: put some perlite at the bottom of youre terrarium. put a filter patch or vacuum cleaner bag on the lid. then put an air hose coming from youre air pump into the terrarium. both ar pretty much maintanence free (except for picking the shrooms) and both work great. unless you know what youre doing then stick to perlite, because you need some expensive equipment to get the humidifier going.
i may, fucking drop something natural somewhere and it might grow into another piece of shit like you. i dont recognize any of you fucking people, youre not real, you came out of comic books.
