Trichocereus scopulicola (now with pics)
    #3616059 - 01/12/05 03:07 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Hi everyone

I noticed a local nurserey sells Trichocereus scopulicola. I've looked around the web and I didn't really find much. From what I can gather it does contain mescaline. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Also, does anyone know anything about it's potency i.e is it in the same range as pachanoi and peruvianus.

edit: I picked it up. here are some pics

Scops do contain mescaline.

Dont post if you have no idea what you are talking about.

Indeedy. Nothing irks me worse than people making stupid posts in the 'sensible' forums. We have OTD for that.

Thanks for the replies (except that first guy:))

Ok another question. Do you think they would be just as safe to eat as the others or are they a bit of an unknown.

thanks again.

Those are not common Trichs. Nice to add to any collection for growing! Best I've ever found so far are seeds for sale.

I'm in Australia so maybe that explains it. I think I might go and pick it up then. It was just a baby less than 15cm tall and less than $10 I think.

I'd buy it,they are a beautiful cactus. I have one thats a bit over a meter tall that has just put out four pups at the base.

I'm in Australia (Victoria) If you're in melbourne too,PM me and we may be able to do some trading.

Wow, nice I love the way in which the scopulicolus adds and removes ribs. Treat this cactus more like a bridgesii in regards to watering (Significantly less than peruvianus & pachanoi)

4 pups Hanky? Thats awesome! gonna turn into a impressive stand one day. I have one 1.5 ft that has just pupped, it is one of my favourites.

At least TRY to do some research.

http://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.cgi?ID=2820

It seems that the mescaline content has never been scientifically measured so i can not give you a percentage.

I have spoken to people who have bio assayed this cactus and their reports are more than favorable. I'll let you know my own opinion when our current growing season finishes.

You can just make an estimation and dose safely but realistically. Potency varies in every cactus, it's not just one species has x.xx% amount of active ingredients

Truer words have never been spoken.

Measuring cactus alkaloid content based on a few samples is like measuring digestion by turd length.
