First let me start by saying thank you to everyone here who has offered so much advice and support! I dont know if i am just lucky or what but 1 month ago i embarked on my very first ever grow. I was told to start with the PF tek several times but i knew that was not the way to go. My motto has always been go big. Anyway i placed my order from TLG (They Rock) and started my grow. 27 Quart Jars of WBS. They took longer then expected to reach 100% but i am proud to say that out of 27 i only lost 1 to contams. I even messed up on 8 of them and used coffee filters insted of Tyvek and they all did 100% with no contams. I also did the Karo tek posted on this site and it worked great. I just recently started spawning my WBS to straw and compost in bulk size bins and so far they are colinizing great and showing no sign of contamination. I think it is safe to say that a newbie can indeed skip the PF tek and move directly on to grains and even bulk with not much of a problem. It is just a matter of doing the proper research and following the teks to a "T" untill you have done it a time or two.

It depends on the person. My foaf found this place, read up about 6 weeks (PC,Flowhood,WBS,G2G,liquid culture, Bulk, casing, ph, Etc). Bought an AA PC, built a flow hood & first attemp was large bulk. A few stumbles along the way.... until he got it RIGHT. Then, never looked back.
