Problem playing quake

I downloaded quake and other games and tryed to lay them and i get the same message. which is this

C:\Windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows aplications. Choose Close to terminate the aplication

what can i do to fix this problem.
i am running windows xp

when you say you try to lay the game what do you mean. fuck it or put one of those hawwian neclaces on it?

try this bro

right click on the shortcut
go to properties
click compatability at the top
check the box under compatability mode
run it for windows 95

hope that works

Get a Windows client for Quake. Just Google "Tenebrae". It is an excellant one with stencil shadow and per pixel lighting support.
