Cyan question
    #3613830 - 01/11/05 07:09 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

There is a state park within driving distance that is home to the California Buckeye, White Alder, Black Oak and Maple trees. I was wondering if the white alder would create the right growing conditions for Psilocybe cyanescens to flourish. Anyone know?

Thanks

White alder will work, pretty much any hardwood is suitible to sustain the growth of most woodluving fungi. Its just more abundent than others so thats where they thrive the best, i would think if they switched all the beds to maple or similar hardwood after a while they will aclimate to that as well.

It's called Crane Creek Regional Park and it's located off of petaluma hill road, in sonoma county California. Just turn down roberts road(off of petaluma hill road) and you can't miss it. What exactly is karo? Sometype of spray that preserves the spores?

Karo is a brand of syrup thats very rich in nutrients and when injected with spores, mycelium is able to grow in the nutrients of the karo water, and when injected into a PF jar, it speeds the process of growth, eliminating the germination stage. If you squirted it at the area you were speaking of, you would be introducing fresh live cyanescens mycelium to the surrounding area...

if your talking about the spot you showed me, I think that might be redwood chips. On **edit by shroomydan (specific location deleted)** there is TONS AND TONS of alder, no actives there last time i was there but the karo tek would work great there.
