sorry scanner aint working yet! =/ ill get pics eventually! ok heres the story i was doing my daily shroom check in my yard when i came across these so i picked the only large specimen and it had a few bug bites on it but theres more so no worries =) ok so then i looked at it and said ok it looks like this.......stem is brown not dark and not light it didnt bruise at all when i snapped the stem or pinched it, the cap was wavy and shaped like a bowl turned right side up(a regular cap upside-down, not a bell) the cap is all brown about the same color as the stem, the cap has a small nipple, the cap is also a little wavy, the gills are white but they have a little bit darker white ring around the edges of the gills,i found this baby in my yard(louisville, kentucky, united states) temperature was about 70-80 degrees, the younger specimens are more orangish brown, i found this in the grass growing by an old statue my grandmother has any help would be appriciated! thanks! -alex sorry i post so much =( oh and p.s. it was raining alot last night! =) peece

Well, it's good that you're studying the mushrooms. Panaeolina feoenesecii is commonly found in lawns after rain. Actually, your description sounds like this mushroom, otherwise commonly known as the Lawn Mowers' Mushroom. It is not hallucinogenic, but is in the same family as the Panaeolii. Stay cool!-Levi7.

thegoldenteacher, you are correct that pan foe has brown gills. Although, I have picked them many times and the gills were white. Not pure white, though. I believe they are this color before they decide to start producing spores. Like I said, it sounds to me like they are lawn mowers' but they could be something else. The brown bowl-shaped cap, brown stem, white gills and the fact that alex found them the morning after a rain in his yard seem to signify premature Lawn Mowers' to me. I could be wrong. Anyhow, stay cool!-Levi7.
