Has anyone ever had to run away from home...
    #3610576 - 01/11/05 01:18 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

... to realize how great home is???

It only took me a little over a week out on my own to come to this conclusion. The small journey put alot of things into perspective.

Yeah, although it usually takes me alot longer than a week. I usually love being away from "home" up until about the 2nd or 3rd month I get homesick. :frown:

So how was Cali? Got any interestin stories for us?

I ran away one time when I was 7. To underneath a few pine trees in our back yard. And pissed on one of them. And my parents saw me and ended my "running away" real fast.

heh, this post reminded my of when I almost ran away when I was real young. I don't know why, maybe to just be one of those kids who runs away from home. I got dressed, packed my backpack... then I just stopped and put everything back and went back to bed. I don't know what stopped me, lol.

I ran away when I was 16, it lasted about 6 months. I got turned in by a girl who had a crush on my boyfriend.

Nothing too interesting, Adamist

It was just amazing to me to be in a different part of the world, to see it with my own eyes and not just thought a television set.

I did have an unexpected encounter with a spirituality center.  The people were really chill and fed me lots of oriental food and read my palm..  That was New Years Eve,  after that I got drunk on the beach, followed by a pub, followed by getting lost in downtown LA searching for a Paul Oakenfold rave at 2 a.m.  Barely made it back to the hostel that morning.

Aside from that little adventure I met a few really cool people from all around the world and found alot of inspiration.

Oh yea.. One night I spent at my Uncle's (in a well-to-do area) and we went to an after christmas party and I met "Slider" from Top Gun.  But more importantly I played a great game of pool that night.

I'm glad you had a great trip... I am getting the travel itch lately myself. We shall see what happens.
