..what do you do...
    #3609375 - 01/10/05 08:41 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

It's been a rather war-like stiff atmosphere here these days,
so let's soften things a bit and relax..

I have a question/s for you...

how much time do you usually reserve for your self, thinking
creating all these views we hear about on these forums?
And how do you do it? Do you meditate, do you walk in the park etc..

And another question:
Have you ever spend a long period of time in a sort of spiritual isolation? I know we all have to work/go to school or whatever,
but sometimes a man gets a chance to pause life and look inside of himself.

I'll go first and say what do I do...

I always prefer walking to driving, because It is a form of mediation to me. Sometimes I have to go to the other side of town, and it takes like 2-3 hours on food, and I enjoy it a lot. Of course my feet hurt, but it is nothing compared to how I it makes me relax and think
about stuff.

I allso enjoy watching around and "exploring". Sometimes when I
am calm and at peace, It is such a wonderfull experience to walk outside and experience everything around me.
Same old streets that I run through many time full of anxiety and stress of every day life seem like something from another wonderfull world when I feel that kind of peace, like someone quoted on this forum without the "mental noise"

I allso use these oportunities to think about universe, spirituality,
myself, human race etc. It is allso a wonderfull experience.

In those moments of silence, all my fears dissapear, all my anxiety, and sence of belonging to the rush of everyday life. I can then see everything so much clearer, and from a distance, like a beautifull landscape, and it feels so eternal. It's like everything from
coulds, birds, streetlamps, trees and flowers is smiling at me and
telling me how silly I was for having any wory in life.

I would not trade those moments for anything in life...

Do you ever have these moments (not counting any drugs)?

I read my philosophy textbook (which I will be studying next year at university), take it in and then next time I happen to be talking about a certain issue, my views create/clarify themselves as the debate unfolds.

I see meditation as a very dodgy way of acquiring points of view. I meditate sometimes to relax, but if you sit down and meditate with the intention of something being revealed to you, then I think it could become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I can relate to this...

Well they are, but it's still not nice to point it out
to them directly like that.

my deepest apologies to you skystone, i didnt realise you were so sensitive, i just assumed that when being stupid its easier to understand things when they are pointed out directly to the person concerned, makes things a little easier to understand on the stupid persons side.

Walks in nature helps to clean my energy and relax and open my mind.
I read books written by my teachers, for guidence and inspiration.

A few months ago i did a weeks solitary retreat, which was quite difficult at first, but got easier and easier the more i relaxed. At the end i didnt want to leave.

When i got home i didnt want to talk for days, and i found it really difficult to integrate into everyday life!

you could say integration is key for you.
or qi

good to know strong forces
can you find peace at the interface?

"how much time do you usually reserve for your self, thinking
creating all these views we hear about on these forums?
And how do you do it? Do you meditate, do you walk in the park etc.."

I write thoughts then arrange them, and rearange them, again and again. I try to create an essay that includes all the thoughts I had during a rainy afternoon for instance or over the course of several days. I am often unable to include everything & leave things out. The last one took @ 3 weeks but the one I like best took a year. The product is slicker than the reality, as my work-books attest.

I used to meditate but don't much anymore. Maybe I got used to it and it's just 'there' I don't know.

I only recently got the chicken joke "why did the chicken cross the road, to get to the other side, the OTHER side; yeah it took me 40 years to get that; I'm driving down a country road and there's a sign on a box outside a trailer, it said 'Trash' in big white letters, I chuckled for a while, that's when I got the chicken joke...stupid joke.

"And another question:
Have you ever spend a long period of time in a sort of spiritual isolation? I know we all have to work/go to school or whatever,
but sometimes a man gets a chance to pause life and look inside of himself."

Some guys study tree-frogs in jungle-isolation for months at a time; I never understood that, but now I wouldn't mind photographing salamanders across the world, for a coffea-table book, then I'd do one on dhows& junks, not for the money, but because it interests me. Have you ever seen a really colorful salamander? The Smokies have some beuts. (beats frogs any-day)

"I allso use these oportunities to think about universe, spirituality,

Yeah, that's what I like about low-dose of shrooms but I don't get them often.

"I would not trade those moments for anything in life..."

Not even a Ferrari and an unlimited creditcard?
