Trying.
    #3607014 - 01/10/05 09:34 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Try to sleep and you can do it, by saying, you are doing it.

Sleep and you can only do it by doing it.

I?m all lost in thinking of trying; you tried, you can do it by saying it, but to do, you have to do..

whats the deal? why would one ever try?

I think a wise philosopher once said:

"Do, or do not. There is no try."

The act of trying implies the possibility of failure. If you simply do, without trying, you'll never fail.

hes right though. theres never a point in trying because if you CAN do something, just do it, dont TRY to do it, and if you CANT do something, why try?

Because one doesn't realize that one has been sleeping until one awakens.

Other way around. One doesn't realize that one is awake until one has woken from sleep. One is unaware of state while sleeping.

You always try if you don't know the outcome.

"Do, or do not. There is no try."

IMHO, it works at a psychological level because it makes you feel more confident about the outcome. Besides, this is just a very imperative demand, not an answer to attain a successful outcome.

It is a moment of awakening, not asleep and not yet awake... walking the path, so to speak.

really trying is great
you don't get anywhere without trying

on the other hand

after failing once or twice on something difficult, you might be inclined to excuse yourself or someone else, "well at least he tried."

maybe go back and deal with it is more useful, or maybe accepting that it is too difficult at the moment and moving on is called for.

In anycase, this thing about being ashamed for "trying" is really b.s. nothing has ever been achieved without trying, and for each success there have been so many failures.

Granted after you have tried, and practiced you can do certain things perfectly, at which point you have entered the domain of the ninja machine. great, big deal.

the human aspect of trying is nothing to be ashamed of if you intend to succeed, "sorry, I tried", however, sucks badly like the dog whimpering with tail between its legs.
