Airsnort for XP
    #3605243 - 01/09/05 09:48 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I've been trying to get this to work with my card all day, my card being a D-Link airplus DWL-650+.... I've come to the conclusion, that the software, and my hard ware is not compatible.

Now, I may be wrong. And hope I am, but if anyone has any experience with this, or any ideas, give me a shout.

actually, a cursiry glance over http://airsnort.shmoo.com/ shows that the DWL-650 is specifically supported and that the driver works as well for Cisco cards.

If anything, the problem lies in the windows port as snort was on the linux platform long before windows. More reading at http://airsnort.shmoo.com/ shows that windows operation is sporadic and buggy depending on the hardware used. FWIW, snort works like a dream on my Cisco Aironet 340 using Linux.

blinkidiot: what makes you state that the hardware is the culprit?

It is actualy the hardware. There are only certain versions of the DWL-650 supported.
Mine being the Airplus DWL-650+...which isn't supported.

I even tried all the different 650 drivers.
