Help with id please

Hello, me and some friends found this mushroom in a park (playground area)wet wood chips, and would like some help id'ing it since we know almost nothing about mushrooms.

cap is maybe 1 inch in diameter

the stem is thick and rubbery

has the normal mushroom scent...

the stem is a lightish brown

the cap is dark brown

Were there mature specimens? What did the caps look like?
What area of the world were they found? Growing on what?

It looks like a Pluteus to me. Is this is correct, then the spore print will turn out pink.

Yeah, probably, but let's wait for a spore print. There are quite a few little brown mushrooms with white stems which grow from wood.
