truth is, sharks come up on the beach in as little as 2-3 feet of water...I spent 10 years at the beach and never saw a shark that close ( but I caught a shark casting about 40 yards out
)... Makes me nervous swimming

That is a crazy picture! Sharks are intimidating. I just saw that movie "Open Water". It was cool cause, unlike "Jaws" where everyone gets eaten quickly, these sharks take their time and terrorize these unfortunate people.

THat movie was pretty bad... I mean , it was SO long- and just tons of floating around wondering what was gonna happen..It did rack my nerves just a bit - hardly worth $6 though....and the ending - to be expected..

Sharks are one of the few things above humans on the food chain- of course they are intimidating, along with lions tigers and bears, oh my

Yeah, it was less than captivating. There was some good camera and lighting tricks, if ya like the technical aspect of movies. But it was pretty boring.

I wonder what it would be like to grab the tail of the shark and hold on for dear life... No way he could swing around and bite you off- and if you were strong enough, the flip and water resistance would make it possible to hold on.. That thing is so close he can almost touch it... and it is twice his size!

Even if you could hold on for a while, every second you're there, the sharks probably getting more pissed. Even if his friends don't eat you off, you gotta let go at some time. And then you've got a furious shark to deal with.

Also, what's to say that a shark can't bite his own tail? I think they're spine is mostly cartilidge. They may be flexible enough.

Man, I have been looking for this pic for over a year, now. I had it once before, but I sent it to a buddy of mine in prison. Thanks! once again, I have it.
It's scary as hell! What would you do, in this situation? Cut back towards the other direction? Ride it out, Because that is what the shark is doing? I seriously don't know, because you can't really call what you would do until it happens, I think. I would probably drop a load in my pants and scream like a girl, at least. :whoa:

no problem.. it was kind of hard to find on google.. like 10 sites have it listed but when you try to go to the link they no longer host it( but somehow it still shows up in the google search)..finally after changing the words around a bit I found someone still hosting it and uploaded it to shroomery

I learned to surf last year. There are a lot of dolphins and seals out here at our beach that will come up to us surfers and just hang out.

The first time I saw one of their fins coming out of the water, I freaked!

I can imagine... I bet your heart went wild... I have a deep respect for the ocean... something mysterious lurks beneath the surface-- and humans can not understand it yet.. so I will just fathom and fear the wonders of the blue.

i forget what its called but when you grab a shark by its tail you can flip them upside down and make tehm somewhat imobile.  plus i dont think many people would be able to hang on to a tail of a shark that size very long....they are strong adn they would flip you around like a toy.  back fin would be the ticket i would think.

thankfully the sharks up here are not of a threat   otherwise i wouldnt be swimming in the ocean much.  im more afriad of sewage and jellyfish than a shark attack up here

thats a million dollar shot though.  as much as i can usually tell myself to stay calm...i think i would literally shit my wet suit.

I'm scared of the deep blue sea. Put a shark on dry land though and it's on like donkey kong. So, what about my dynamite?
