J.S. Bach- 2 Part Invention #4 in Dm on guitar
    #3603596 - 01/09/05 01:22 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I recently rediscovered my stash of classical sheet music and have been playing around with some of it this week.  took a little acid yesterday and did a lot of jamming and recording.  I figured this piece turned out pretty well so I thought I'd post it here, there are a few little mistakes in there that drive me crazy every time I hear it, but it's decent altogether, not bad for being recorded while I was frying on acid .  I'll try to get one up without the damn mistakes soon, but here's what I have so far, check it out. it's less than a meg and under a minute long so you have no excuse .

http://www.angelfire.com/wa/hutch2

click on the first track, can't link to it from other sites

if anyone is interested in learning it let me know and I'll put up the tab I made for it with Powertab. It's fun to play and good for improving your geetar chops.

yeah, I'm more into electric...

I have an old beat up classical guitar that I sometimes play stuff with, but it sounds like shit and I don't have a decent mic to record it with, heh...

kinda, I was born in the 80's, didn't really get into rock/metal until I picked up guitar a few years back though.

That's awesome...

More people should get into classical music, and it's funny how bands like Metallica (Ride The Lightening era) can promote it.

5 shrooms to this thread, awesome chops dude

hrmmm

paganini's 5th, 24th and 16th caprices
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/Caprices2.html
rondo allegro spirituoso by him is good too

J.S. bach -  Tocatta and fugue in Dm, can't do all the counterpoint on one guitar, but it comes out pretty well.

also his violin concerto in Am, I don't remember what one, I'll try to find a midi. EDIT: it's BWV 1041 http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/ConcertoLaB.html

Sarasate - Zigeunerweisen
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/downloads/Sarasate/Zigeuner.html?keyword=zigeunerweisen

Mozart- rondo alla turca

that's all I can think of now ...

Tocatta and fugue in Dm
oh yeah, played that one too, only the first minute though, wich is very nice.
rondo alla turca only the beginning of this one too, never found good tabs or something (it's a while ago since I played that)

I'll look for sounds/mp3's for the paganino ones and see wht I like, thanks

excellent, I'll definitely check that out, thanks.

I just suggested ones I've played around with on electric, I'm sure most would work good on real classical guitar too though.

anything by Tarrega or Barrios. seriously, that Spanish shit is totally made for guitar, those guys lived and breathed it

I'm practicing The flight of the bumblebee now, interesting composition. this will be good for my 2hand synchronization. I need to get that picking exactly right at high speeds.

flight of the bumblebee for classical guitar?

I kind of detest that piece of music but I'd love to hear it played proficiently on guitar

yeah, that's a tricky one, I played around with the first few parts a while back but never got the sheet music and actually learned the whole thing.  Kevin Ferguson does a cool version of the whole song.  john petrucci also shreds the living hell out of some parts from it in a couple live clips I've heard .

I uploaded some classical tabs for electric and some violin sheet music to the page, if you want them, grab em, they'll be the first to go if I need more space.

also uploaded the first half or so of a Toccata & Fugue tab for electric guitar I have to here, if anyone wants to learn it all, let me know and I'll post the rest.  a clip that came with it is on the page, I dunno who plays it (probably the tab author), but it's pretty cool.

enjoy

:jamming:
