it's a pretty good sign that political correctness has gone too far when we are diluting our ability to defend against terrorist attacks so that people will not have their feelings hurt.

Profiling is dumb. If you were a terrorist and knew for example that an 80-year old women would never be searched, what would you do?

Exactly. Profiling is dangerous, making assumptions about who could and could not be a terrorist is cheap, but useless as a security measure.

Scanners, sniffer dogs and on-flight security are a lot more costly, but a lot more effective.

This is utterly ridiculous and a further example of PC drivel gone wild. Profiling is highly effective as a security tool. Name one instance of an 80 year old woman blowing up any planes. They couldn't recruit them anyway. They recruit the young because they are impressionable and they recruit Muslims because it is a Muslim cause. They haven't even been able to touch the American Black Muslims. Only young stupid Arab Muslim splodeydopes. That's it. Do you think that if we profile young, foreign Arabs and subjected them to greater scrutiny that they would start recruiting SWEDES? What kind of powers do you think these swine have? They're not recruiting people to risk jail time for financial gain, they're asking them to commit suicide and take some infidels with them. I don't think there are too many Hindu's up for that, or Tibetan Buddhists, or Salvadorans. They can only recruit the schmucks who are susceptible, and profiling can help to identify them.

If anyone wishes to come to this country from an Arab or predominately Islamic country they should have a microchip implanted. If they don't like it they can stay the fuck home.
I don't give a shit how much revenue a few colleges will lose(Hmmmmm maybe that explains the perverse support for Palestinian thugs rampant throughout academia), they are guests here and can accept our conditions or keep out. And we WILL be watching them, even the truly innocent ones, because of the acts of some of their brethren. Maybe the innocent ones should be doing something about their out of control brothers and sisters instead of supporting them by doing nothing to stop them, or even slow them.

I forgot, terrorists can only be young Arab Muslim males that don't have mothers.

The case of the Chechen Black Widows, comes to mind, OK these were wives in their 20s, but I don't think it take a great leap of imagination from there. BTW Chechnya is in the Caucuses and therefore people from there tend to be Caucasian.

I think profiling can be part of the fight against terrorism, sure pick people out for extra attention, but don't say because they are white/female/old etc. that they can't be a threat, like GS was implying when he was talking about old women, children and pilots being searched.

I was being glib, my point is that not screening people because they don't fit the 'profile' is dangerous, you are creating an obvious hole in your security.

I want real security on airlines, not something based on someones idea of what a terrorist looks like.

What did the 911 commission say, "a serious lack of imagination", lets not repeat previous mistakes.

Recent History Of Islam

(Note: The West changed greatly in the 1960s. And in response, so did the world, and so did Islam. In particular, and politically, the West underwent a powerful Second Socialist Wave [after the First one with the "New Deal" 1930s]. This new "Great Society," "Civil Rights Era," "New Left," "hippie generation," etc. saw a profound upswing in cultural anti-Westernism and anti-Americanism. Even, and especially, in the West and America. Islam noted all this and changed dramatically -- and almost completely for the worse. Then, in 1967, tiny Israel defeated six massive Islamic armies simultaneously. And Islam changed even more dramatically -- and even more for the worse. Hence, today's Islam.)

March 1968: Al Fatah uses a land mine to destroy a school bus in Israel's Negev desert; the Palestinians murder two adults and injure 28 children.
