Giggling
    #3601841 - 01/09/05 04:10 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I was reading a message and got to laughing quite hard. I looked around my empty room and realized that there was nothing here to make me giggle except my interpretation of another's thoughts as funny. In other words, as I chose to make myself laugh.

I DECIDED to call little black squiggles funny.

Now here is the REAL MIRACLE: What if the next time you got a flat tire, you decided to call it hilarious instead of a major frustration? What if the next time you got rejected, you felt blessed for knowing that you would never have to deal with that person again? What if the next time you were humiliated, you paused to thank the cosmos for the lesson in humilty?

What if you consciously wrote your own script as you went along?

I've been seeing you as my black Jesus man for a while now. Of course you are probably a white man in your mid sixties, but it doesn't stop me from seeing you this way.

What if you consciously wrote your own script as you went along?

Well I'd be pretty damn wiped out on pain pills..oh. I see what you mean. Ok, yes. Being more conscious can only help me in my life?

Hey, what it be, my m-a-n? Gib me five.

Tell me, what kind of pain pills do you recommend? And for muscle aches or existential pain?

That's one way of dealing with reality.  Apathy isn't too far removed- instead of reacting favorably or unfavorably to an event, just looking at it and observing the immediate impact it has on your life.  If there is no immediate impact, it doesn't matter.  Even if there is a long-term impact, it doesn't matter, because that hasn't happened yet.  :smirk:

Sort of an emotional purgatory- it's not a great way to get through life, but it's not too bad either.

I live my life for my own entertainment.

Thanks for reminding me though. I often forget to look back and appreciate the screen play acts of my life, and escaping the riddle, heh.

Ahhh, sigh...reflection.

--------------------
A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

nothing has any meaning to you
until you decide to give it meaning
and you can give it any meaning you choose

very existential indeed

I'm replying here to the first paragraph of the main post in this thread.
So Swami, are you saying whn you read something funny you choose to laugh? IMO it's more like when something funny strikes you you just start to laugh, automatically. Sometimes you can choose not to laugh, for example when you're in a situation where it's inappropriate but sometimes it's so funny you can't stop laughing. So I think the most of the times you laugh are spontaneous

I believe the world can, and often does, work in the way you described. It is amazing how many people are governed by limiting perceptions.

I think most reactions are just our own perceptions of things.

For example - if you and I were to stand in front of a wave. I may find the wave frightening whilst you might find it awe inspiring.

However - the wave is no different - it is still the same wave - it is our individual perception of the wave which is different and inspires our reaction to it.

good post. ive actually done exactly the same thing. A common one is when i miss a bus, i get there just as it is pulling away . maybe a half second of 'godamnit' then my training kicks in and a big smile comes over my face and i look up at that fantastic sky and i go damn thats nice.

Or when i miss a test . No frusteration. it really works for anything. You quite literally can take concious control of damn near every emotional response you have, or at least you can bring yourself into a mental state where those emotional responses are more positive than negative.

this is yet another demonstration of my tired old statement that your conciousness-paradigm-setup-framework-thought patterns will shape and create your experiential reality.

a person stuck in a negative paradigm will experience even quite nice things in a negative way, and people in positive frameworks can enjoy even rather shitty things.

SWAMI!!

I TOTALLY agree it's so true and such a positive thought you have YAY I will apply this principle to every aspect of my life.

EXCEPT for my dealings with you. If you say things that make me REAAAALLLY mad, I will let it wind me up, and I will interpret evilness every time you disagree with me, you bastard.

edit: That is, it's so easy to agree with this principle when explained like that. The same idea seems repulsive when it means that I might actually have to take responsibility for my reactions to .. "other" things.

the cloud, in this case, is the stinky asshole. what you meant was: "every cloud has a silver lining, but every silver lining has a cloud." or something like that.

Since nothing has any inherent essence or meaning of it's own everything we experience is under the control of our own minds. That means if you put in a little effort you can transform your mind, and ultimately your life into a better place.
