Ripping/Tagging MP3s

Hey all.
I'm having fun with my Creative Zen XTRA (upgraded to 60GB). I FINALLY tagged all 2200 files I had on my computer and uploaded those to the player, and now it's time to get into the heavy stuff- my CD collection. I've got over 400 CDs worth of stuff to rip/tag, so here's my question: what's your favorite ripping/tagging program? I'd prefer one that does both at once (IE queries a CD Database and tags as it rips). I've used Winamp 5.08 Pro's internal R/T, and CDex, but they just don't cut the mustard. Suggestions?
Links to download sites (legit of course ) worth bonus points.

I used to use CD-DA extractor, but it fucked up my comp. Now I use Roxio, but I don't think it's free like CD-DA. Speaking of MP3's, I gotta get a new HD soon. My 20GB is full up after the next few CDs I rip.

Haha, you know what I've been doing? I just got the ZEN Xtra 40GB. I install the ZEN software, and use the Nomad Explorer to tag everything that I've downloaded... the only thing I haven't figured out how to tag that way is track number.
I use CDex, which I like because I can set it to a medium thread priority and watch a movie and chill and just rip CDs for a couple hours and not think about it.

Yeah? I just fairly cursorily looked around. If it was fast enough to where I wasn't irritated about it, I stayed with it

Exact Audio Copy is the best ripper. period. http://www.exactaudiocopy.org
use LAME encoder w/ EAC - you can d/l it here: http://mitiok.cjb.net
MusicBrainz is a really good ID3 tagger - http://www.musicbrainz.org
all of these are freeware and/or open source.

I also second EAC with LAME - the best out there.
if you want quality rips, use this combination.
pm me if you want me to walk you thru eac...
LAME is the best mp3 you can produce - accept no substitutes.
alt preset standard is just fine, although I do alt preset extreme.
also explore: razorLAME & .ogg & lossless encodings like flac, ape, musepack, etc.
here's a good mp3tag editor: http://massid3lib.sourceforge.net
