An AA that didnt work  Was it an AA  & if so? What was it that -- didnt work ?

AA PC beats all the others - HANDS DOWN. Anybody who says OTHERWISE - never owned an AA.

why do i see some of the pics of AAs with cords on them?
I think that may be a better option that risking a used one with a bad guage or something.  I'm all about no hassle and b.s. Supernaut :rocket:

Ones with "cords"..... you don't have to use a stove to heat. They contain an internal heating element.

A used AA is FINE. The gauge & any other thing that might be wrong - can be replaced for just a few bucks. My foaf has a 925, 925X (cord) & a 941 sterilizer. You could have the "old lady" before you could have those.

I got my pressure cooker from some place like Bonton. It was one of the display cookers and was missing the top cap to let me change it to steam release, steam, pressure, and clean. Its just this stupid plastic switch. So I opened the boxed cooker behind it, took out the manual and took the peice it was missing off.

The price on the display cooker was on $20! I got it home and saw a cord on it and almost shit myself. And that is when i found out about electric pressure cookers. Its not an AA, its a Toast Master, but it works damn fine.

Hint Hint...... BIGGER IS BETTER.

Also, new ones like the AA 915 have a weighted steam release system, rather than a stainless steel toggle steam release. I believe AA did this as a cost cutting measure. Weight IMHO doesnt compared to the toggle.

Toggle is spring driven & will release steam, if pressure builds beyond the caution stage (safety fearure). It will not release steam below that point. So,you don't loose any water content, nor have to listen to a weight whistle & giggle, as steam escapes during the PC run.

If you can find new "old stock" with the TOGGLE, rather than the weight. I would buy that one, before I would one with a weighted steam release. Picture below:

So basically if I buy an AA pressure cooker with the newer weighted steam release system my only concern would be keeping enough water in the PC for sterilization.
I'm about to buy a 21.5 quart one so this is helpful to know..thanx

if you can't afford an AA just get the presto 21qt. It reaches 15psi and maintains it with no problem as long as the gasket is in good condition. You can replace the gasket too. It won't be the last PC you buy... but it's a good first PC to own. It will certainly work well enough to sterilize jars and equipment. I got mine with the intention of getting an AA down the road but still have no need to even think about replacing it. Found it for about $90 shipping included online. Do a froogle search for "presto 21 quart"

I'll second that. I got a 23 qt. Presto at Ace Hardware for $90, and so far it has met all my needs. Plus, I didn't have to wait for it to ship, which was another plus in my book...

I own 2 AA pressure cookers....the 910 and the 930.
They are well worth the money that you will spend on them...they are the best.

Ebay is a great place to pick up used and new ones for a fraction of the price you would pay for a brand new store bought one.

I think I saved over $50.00 on my 930 brand new on Ebay.

Good Luck!~

New 930 AA - may have the toggle (rather than weight). Touch base will seller & ask. If anyone - seller should know.

>>edit<< I just checked & brand new 930 puppies have the weight, rather than toggle. But.. be assured it will hold water enough to get the deed done.

Details tell the story:

30 Quart liquid capacity

19 Pint or 14 Quart jar capacity

Exclusive Metal-to-Metal Seal-no gaskets to crack, burn, or replace.

Positive Action Clamping Locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal.

Automatic Overpressure Release providing an extra margin of safety over conventional rubber or composition gasketed cookers

Pressure Regulator Weight

Easy to Read Geared Steam Gauge for accurate pressure control.
2 Jar Racks
Sturdy Bakelite Handle
Smooth, Easy to Clean Satin Finish
Easy On-Off Cover
Size: 19" x 12 1/4" inside diameter
Weight: 21 1/4 lbs.
