Do it.
    #3598326 - 01/08/05 02:28 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

You see, Peter was told by a master that he could walk on the water. He had a purpose, since he really wanted to cross the water to get to the master. There he was, facing a master... a Human Being whom he'd seen quell storms and talk to nature itself. And the master said, "Peter, you as a Human Being have the ability to walk on the water. Do it." And Peter did!

As long as he kept his eyes on the master.. the second he looked away from Jesus and down at the water he fell into it.

which is of course a metaphor. as soon as you lose sight of your divinity (represented by jesus) you forget that which you are and lose such powers.

or at least thats the message i got from it.

Keep your eyes turned to god and you can achieve anything

I think that a belief in god stymies your abilities rather then enhances. We say anything can be done through Christ, but I think that anything can be done without Christ just as well. We just have to have a strong belief in ourselves as individuals in order to accomplish good things.

God and the church have done nothing but prevent the advancement of thought. And the church is just a mockery of what they believe seeing as they do their best to stop any kind of direct contact with what they call their savior.

Just remember that if you have faith in yourself, you can accomplish anything. God does not cause the miraculous, we do.

for sure. My belief (as i hope people are starting to get) is that we are all our own gods or rather have the capability to experience godhood within us. so to me christ and keeping your eyes on him symbolizes remembering the divinity inside yourself, which makes all things possible.

Interesting. When I was taught this as a little kiddie, I took it as more of a don't-look-down thing.

You know when you're doing something perfectly, until you start thinking 'wow, I'm really doing this well!'

perhaps a metaphor for the re-awakening of the ego as a negative thing?

Jumped in a river, what did I see?
Black eyed angels swimming with me
Moon full of stars and astral cars, all the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and all my futures
We went to heaven in a little rowboat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

when youget to thinking "wow, i really am holy!" that is when your ego is at its worst. and that is when you fall teh hardest form realizing your divinity.

btw, hi gomp
