Your best bet would be to use the prepoured presterilized plastic petri's as is depending on the type of agar they're made from. They are not PCable BTW sorry.

Better to go with glass petri's Plastic will need to be poured in a glove box or in front of a flowhood. E-Bay has them often as well as stainless steel holders if you have a large enough PC other wise foil wrap and stack them. You can foil wrap them in groups of 2 to whatever but having them individually wrapped goes along way towards keeping them clean and away from contams way.

I tried to PC some plastic petris and they melted. To sterilize for re-use, I now soak them in alcohol for 8-12 hours. Works well so far.

I already bought 3 cases of 100x15mm dishes in polystyrene and have 84 100x15, 24 150x20 glass petri dishes.... the 1/2 pint jars are a great alternative if you dont want to buy glass petri dishes.

I'll tell ya something next best thing to glass petri's IS baby food jar slants, they have keep some of my myc cultures going for years! They're all I used for many years and work absolutely perfect if you have access to them. They work better than petri's IMHO especially as far as ease of storage is concerned.

slant tubes are pretty expensive, I've been buying by the case over the last few years and recently purchased a pallet of 9000 25x100 with caps... I got a great deal on them...

I have roughly 100 more than enough for me, and they weren't cheap but definitely cheaper (e-bay) than purchasing them direct from a lab supply site. WOW! 9000 now we'll have to talk! as soon as I start my edibles.

Alcohol and peroxide are sanitizer
The plastic dishes are disposables they don't get re-used
Don't try to sanitize your petri dishes and re-use them you'll just waste your time and give yourself a headache
Im glad you used the search but you bumped a 12 year old thread. Limit the age of posts you search for to 2-3 years for better results
