Would it be at all posible for me to grow azures. outside in south central Tx. if I put the spawned wood chips in the shade would the spawn survive and would they ever fruit?

This dosen't seem likely but it would be nice.

i'm not an expert on azures, but i believe that they are:

A)wood lovers. you'd have to get some spawn and then spawn some woodchips.
B)cold fruiting. which means you'd need cold temps... how often does THAT happen in south central TX?

they're also hard as hell to cultivate indoors.

I was thinking it might be posibile to fruit them in the winter here outside.
But I know that the mycelium would most likley die in hotter temps I could find a very shaded spot to put them.

At what temp. would the mycelium experence thermal death?

They might do well there. Check your hardiness zone. and check these sites.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

U need atleast 50 Farenheit to fruit for 12 hours a day so keep that in mind and ya keep it in the shade for sure. So if its 50 degrees outside go for it also id keep in mind azur seem to take longer to grow then other species.
