A fun read. Enjoy!
Has U.S. threatened to vaporize Mecca? Intelligence expert says nuke option is reason bin Laden has been quiet
------------------------------------------------------------ Posted: January 7, 2005 1:00 a.m. Eastern
? 2005 WorldNetDaily.com
Why hasn't Osama bin Laden's terror network executed an attack on U.S. soil since 9-11?
Simple, says Dr. Jack Wheeler, creator of an acclaimed intelligence website dubbed "the oasis for rational conservatives": The U.S. has threatened to nuke the Muslim holy city of Mecca should the terror leader strike America again.
On his website, To the Point, Wheeler explains how the Bush administration has identified the potential of wiping Mecca off the map as bin Laden's ultimate point of vulnerability ? the Damoclean Sword hanging over his head.
Israel ? recognizes that the Aswan Dam is Egypt's Damoclean Sword," writes Wheeler. "There is no possibility whatever of Egypt's winning a war with Israel, for if Aswan is blown, all of inhabited Egypt is under 20 feet of water. Once the Israelis made this clear to the Egyptians, the possibility of any future Egyptian attack on Israel like that of 1948, 1967, and 1972 is gone."
Wheeler says talk of bin Laden's Damoclean Sword has infiltrated the Beltway.
Writes Wheeler in his members-only column: "There has been a rumor floating in the Washington ether for some time now that George Bush has figured out what Sword of Damocles is suspended over Osama bin Laden's head. It's whispered among Capitol Hill staffers on the intel and armed services committees; White House NSC (National Security Council) members clam up tight if you begin to hint at it; and State Department neo-cons love to give their liberal counterparts cardiac arrhythmia by elliptically conversing about it in their presence.
"The whispers and hints and ellipses are getting louder now because the rumor explains the inexplicable: Why hasn't there been a repeat of 9-11? How can it be that after this unimaginable tragedy and Osama's constant threats of another, we have gone over three years without a single terrorist attack on American soil?"
Available only to subscribers of To the Point, Wheeler ends his column by explaining the effectiveness of the Mecca threat.
"Completely obliterating the terrorists' holiest of holies, rendering what is for them the world's most sacred spot a radioactive hole in the ground is retribution of biblical proportions ? and those are the only proportions that will do the job.
"Osama would have laughed off such a threat, given his view that Americans are wussies who cut and run after a few losses, such as Lebanon in 1983 and Somalia in 1993. Part of Bush's rationale for invading Afghanistan and Iraq ? obviously never expressed publicly ? was to convince Osama that his threat to nuke Mecca was real. Osama hates America just as much as ever, but he is laughing no more."
Wheeler says bin Laden is "playing poker with a Texas cowboy holding the nuclear aces," so there's nothing al-Qaida could do that could come remotely close to risking obliterating Mecca.
Writes Wheeler: "So far, Osama has decided not to see if GW is bluffing. Smart move."

I highly doubt this article. If we nuked Mecca for something Osama bin-Laden, who is not officially offiliated with Saudi Arabia, we would be killing more than a million innocent people. We would become enemies of every single Muslim in the world for nuking their holy city. There are other reasons why we haven't been attacked by "terrorists" (see: CIA operatives) in the past 3 years.

If this actually happened, the repercussions of the US's actions would be far worse than anything they had seen before. It'd make the WTC attack seem like child's play, and create millions of new terrorists.
Arrogance will be the downfall of this country unless people stop thinking that killing innocents will solve all our problems.

I agree. We shouldn't kill anyone based on what they believe.

Nuking Mecca would be a God-send for OBL since he would garner alot of world wide support. If the US nuked Mecca, much of the world would feel whatever terrorist attacks occur in the US would be well deserved. 9-11 would go down in history as a blazing moment of resistance against a Modern day Roman Empire.

The purpose of a threat like this is analogous to the "Mutually Assured Destruction" of the cold War. Noone WANTED to launch the first missile because they knew that they would be destroyed. With the Arab leaders knowing that if they let OBL set up camp in their country and he perpetrates a huge attack on the USA, that their entire government will be obliterated within a day of the attack and that mecca would be turned into a sticky mess of gooey glass at the same time, they have incentive.

I think it's a bad idea, nuking people is pretty evil. But the threat of it probobly works, and many of those guys would be dumb enough to believe it.

9/11 was needed to justify Bush and Company's Project for The New American Century. We haven't had any more "terrorist" attacks on US soil because they do not need it yet.

There is no point in killing people who aren't harming anyone. Until I see Catholic suicide bombers there is no reason to blow up the Vatican. It would be tempting to blow up Jerusalem but given as that it only has real significance (not politically manufactured anyway) to the Jews I wouln't blow it up either. IMO them, the Armenians, and Palestinian Christians living there are not the problem.

Maybe, but I doubt it. See, without that, you'd just invent some new anti-American reason why those peaceful people are struggling against the nations of evil. Could you answer a question I had in another post asking how much money these nations were donating for the tsunami attacks? How much Al-Q or the PLO has pledged? Thanks!

Apparently you don't know anything about Christians living in the occupied territories. Palestinian Christians "not a problem"? You say this because you LOVE to isolate Muslims. Apparently you have never heard of George Habash. Go ahead, run along, and use your wikipedia on this on.

Well actually you are right, Palestinian Christians have not been very docile either. Hell, Arafat's wife was Christian. Makes sense because really the whole thing isn't about religion but land anyway. However, when I say 'Palestinian' Christians I am mean the Christians who live there, Israeli, American, Armernian, European, not specifically ethnic Palestinians. MOST of those people have not been involved in violence. Well hopefully if things keep going the way they are there may be no need to nuke the place.

Sick, very sick. Murdering millions of innocent civilians because you don't agree with some wack-o that happens to claim the same religion as the innocent people is simply wrong. The only thing nuclear weapons are good for is maintaining a stalemate; a loosing stalemate in my opinion.

My point was if you're going to take one take them all. Make a clean sweep of it and get rid of all retards who believe in god. However, since no one is willing to take them all then none should be taken (religious sites, that is). This has absolutely nothing to do with my position that Muslim splodeydopes need to be eradicated with extreme prejudice, or any other splodeydope, or anyone who helps splodeydopes or, frankly, anyone else who wants to kill me because I hate god or do drugs or like to butt fuck my wife (or yours).

Haha, your ardent desire to see a genocide of people who believe in God makes Holy War sound actually Holy for a change. And there would be alot of atheists, agnostics, deists, and non-religious people of the like fighting in this holy war against whatever monstrous regime that would carry out such a genocide.

Noooo, just wait for the terrorists to nuke us then we can drop nukes everywhere. All we need is an excuse to drop nukes on the muslims and take over the middle east. Kinda like I need someone to hit me first in order for me to bash their head in. Can't do anything unless they hit first.

IMO nuking Mecca is too extreme. From the pictures I've seen Mecca looks like a beautiful city. I'm more in favour interning the unstable Muslim inhabitants of the Middle East in camps on various islands around the world. Some may say this is reminiscant of Nazi Germany, I think otherwise. The islands would only be a temporary stop, once the technology exists they will be sent to live on the moon far away from the western world they despise. I'm suprised nobody has thought of this before. It would be wonderful. There could be a different reservation for each type of religious fanatic. Did anyone drop a wallet?

you've opened my eyes, I no longer want to nuke Mecca if we can figure out a way to send them to the moon. VERY good idea.

If we nuke mecca now, and launch an all out assault on the muslim population, we could effectively kill 90% of them before the world turns against us. When that happens, we say we're sorry and go back to our borders. I say we strike now while we are on top of the world. Muslims want our position and its only a matter of time before they become powerful enough to result in a world war between muslims and non-muslims.

Yeah, and in the future aliens might come to enslave us all, so because that MIGHT happen, lets nuke ourselves into extinction, since that would be better than forced slavery in a dilithium mine.

Yeah, but the same implication of IF is made. Just because something is possible, even likely, does not mean it will happen. Therefore we should not nuke Mecca because of what might happen. Think about the consequences first. What would we have to deal with from other nations who might not agree with us murdering hundreds of thousands? I think our children would spend their lives paying reparations if that ever happened.

I think that the Israelies might not be in agreement with this plan. Also, wouldn't nuking those areas combust the black gold stored underneath? Maybe we could buy them all a "travel vacation" to Africa, or somewhere devoid of resources. Maybe Australia...

If you get hit first, you can do anything to the other person. Basically I think that if someone does something to you, you should return it 10 fold, make the person fucking cry and make them wish they never touched you. The same with US, just wait for a nuke, then make them wish they were never born.

Well, start crying. It happens once a year and will do so for the remainder of human existance, if we continue to use the same calendar. I cry tears of joy whenever I think of Israel whupping the Arabs ass. No not that time, the time before it. No no not THAT time that Israel was attack and god smote the dark skinners, the time BEFORE that. Ok Ok, I realize that this happens so often it's hard to remember WHICH time i'm talking about. Lets just say I cry tears of joy at all of them. That Shiek Wheel Chair of Cripplallah, I cried tears of job when they, ahem, "renovated" the mosque he was squeeking out of.

I doubt that anybody would drop a nuke on Mecca. I think they gave Osama Bin Laden that message to make him behave. The US and Saudi Arabia are working together to fight the war on terrorism.

actually it's been gone over before
not a single tape has been released since 2001 that can be verified as being a recording of osama bin laden. there's been a few audio tapes, but they are believed to have been forgeries. no video.
osama is not sending anything.. osama is dead. he was very ill in 2001 and has, in a best-case scenerio, been spending 3-4 years on the run through mountainous, undeveloped country.

If by martyred you mean burned to a crisp then I agree. Martyred is a world the radical muslims use to explain when their ignorance gets them killed.
Actually, it's a word applied to any Muslim who meets his maker, not just Mujahids who die fighting. For example, 9 year-old boys are martyred all the time on their to school by Israeli missiles. For example, thousands of Indonesian Muslims were martyred when the tsunami struck. Heck, about a month ago my friend's grand mother was martyred by a massive heart attack.

Kind of loses it's meaning if all you need to do is die in order to become a martyr doesn't it?

That's a wierd way of describing Martyrdom. Unfortunatly your definition differs from that of the people dying for their make believe cause.

Well, originally it was applied to death. These days, especially when political imprisonment is on the rise in the third world, since colonization etc. such people are often considered ideologically persecuted and thus martyrs. There is alot of East-West cultural divides on the meaning as well.

Let me guess, everyone on this island gets a randomly selected item, such as: shotgun, mirror, GPS tracker, pot lid, handgun, or megaphone?

It's been a while since I've read the Communist Manifesto, but if I remember correctly, the abolition of religion is one of the goals of communism.

Not Communism, but Marxism. Neo Communism presents general equality, including freedom of religion, but there are only restrictions on religion if that religion starts to influence things that it shouldn't.

Most of the world will be communist in the next 1000 years, maybe less. The world population will force countries to gear towards socialism.

SoopaX, you're incorrect. I only celebrate for the Arabs when they blow up a convoy of American troops or something.

"Oh Allah, After allowing the infidel Zionists to take our towns and our holy cities, After having us starving while our leaders prosper and oppress us, After our combined efforts losing time and time again against the superior infidel army, After having the Great Satan place her troops on our holiest lands, After devostating us with a great tsunami, After our heroic leader was destroyed, devasated and captured like a rat by the infidels, After town by town, area by area, two of our nations have fallen to the infidels, You've graced us with the victory of killing 10 Americans, 40 Iraqi's and one of ourselfs Oh Blessed Be Allah"
Is that the prayer you read? It's from the Qu'ron that I have here.
