Condensation on sawdust block
    #3589988 - 01/06/05 05:38 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I have a fully colonised mushroom block that pinned all over and nowhere near where I cut holes in the bag (bag is clear). So I cut the bag from around the block and put it back in my 100 gallon aquarium. The problem is the moisture from my ultrasonic humidifier is condensing on the block and I was wondering if the condensation will hurt the mycelium?

Depends on what type of mushrooms it is.

Oops forgot to mention that. It's probably pheonix oyster but not sure I cloned it from the supermarket.

also epends on how much condensation. pooling water suffocates growth and encourages contamination regardless of species. lesser condensate should be fine for oysters. i'm miffed as to why the pins avoided the holes tho.

It's pooling on the top, the top of the block is rather rough and uneven. The sides are ok. The pins all over the block are from the bag not being tight enough I think.

establish an airflow across the top of the block. pooling is bad joojoo.

King oysters dont like growing threw wholes. You might get one or two to pop out but many more will grown and deform under the plastic. I think its best to fruit them via an open top rolled down. some oysters pin by the thousands and only a fourth of the number make it threw the whole.
