my friend has just cased in a 10 gal glass tank with perlite and bottle with air pump attached.... the gauge (tested-works good) went up to 99%.... she took out the perlite..... went back up to 99%..... she took out the air pump..... back to 99%.....the average humidity here is 70%..... could somebody please tell me how to lower the humidity? she has a small place and leaves the door open for air, so she wants to keep the tank sealed from air contams...... short of drilling holes all through her glass tank, what can be done??? and.... would it be bad to just leave the lid off ???

What is the lid made out of? You might be able to make holes in that. Also you might be able to run the air pump w/o a bubbler.

Humidity seems to be a funny condition. There doesnt seem to be any "inbetween" my guage always reads 98 whether its dry inside (no misting) or if I mist. Of course Im using perlite but check this when its dry inside the grow chamber the guage will read 98 and I physically cannot feel any or very little humidity inside. Then I'll mist the sides alittle and a couple hours later I'll fan it and I can feel the humidity inside its so damn thick you can cut it with a fuckin knife and the guage will still be at 98. Go figure??

this is a nice one - temp/humidity in digital..... so i had her take it out and it took 10 minutes or so to get to room humidity.... ? ...... maybe it got wet? can an indoor/outdoor humidity gauge not work if damp??? maybe i should've invested in the $5- or the $50- gauge???????????? -lol after it showed normal room humidity, we put it back in the tank and lo........... back to 99%.......... based on all this info... should she put the perlite and air pump back in and forget the gauge or one or the other, or leave an empty tank.......??????????????? thanks :)
