    #3589224 - 01/06/05 04:12 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Can anyone who has seen this before let me know what it is. My friend is worried and asked me to post these pics. Is it cureable?

I'm not sure, it's hard to tell, but it does look like mold. The lighting might just be making the mycelium look a little grey. The texture doesn't look like cobweb to me, but it could be another type of mold. Can you see any cobweb-like threads running across the surface of the casing? Sometimes you need a flashlight at an angle to see them. How quickly has this problem developed?
If you choose to give a moderate peroxide treatment, don't oversoak it, as that can make things worse. Several light treatments are better than one heavy one. If it is truly a mold, it looks like a bit too much to hope for a cure at this point.
